Security & Trust
Keeping you safe from spam, harassment, and abuse.
Your physical and digital safety are our highest priorities. We designed CiviTag not just to be convenient, but to act as a secure buffer between you and the public. Below is our commitment to your security and our policies against platform abuse.
1. Internet Call Security & Anti-Abuse
Our Internet Call feature is designed purely for urgent vehicle-related notifications. We have implemented strict guardrails to prevent its misuse:
- No Hidden Numbers: Even though the caller doesn't see your number, we track all scanning sessions internally. Anonymity is not a shield for abuse.
- Permanent Lifetime Bans: If a caller uses the VoIP feature to harass, threaten, or abuse a vehicle owner, we will trace the connection session and issue a massive, un-appealable hardware and network-level lifetime ban across the entire CiviTag network.
- Legal Cooperation & Prosecution: We actively save metadata of abuse events. When harassment crosses the line into illegality (threats, stalking, or serious verbal abuse), we will assist local authorities and take direct legal action against the perpetrators.
2. Total Number Masking
CiviTag fundamentally separates your vehicle's physical presence from your personal identity.
- For the Owner: When a stranger scans your QR code to alert you or call you, your phone number is completely hidden. They never see who they are talking to.
- For the Scanner: The scanner doesn't have to share their phone number or download an app to alert the owner, maintaining their privacy as well.
3. Cloud Security & Encryption
Beyond our strict abuse policies, the technical foundation of CiviTag is heavily fortified.
- Message Encryption: Every alert and message is fully encrypted during transmission and rest.
- Stateless Calls: Our WebRTC-based calling system uses encrypted, peer-to-peer data channels. Audio tracks are not stored or recorded on our servers.
- Oracle Data Guard & Encryption: Our Oracle-backed database uses advanced encryption and secure row-level access controls to guarantee that only the authenticated owner can access their personal vehicle data and alerts.
4. Reporting Abuse
If you experience any form of abuse, spam, or harassment via a CiviTag alert or internet call, please report it to us immediately. Provide the approximate date and time of the incident so we can trace the session.
Reporting directly helps us trigger the ban protocol and maintain a healthy, secure environment for all commuters.
